HOW Magazine
The Graphic Design Community's Trusted Source for Creative Inspiration.
We've heard of designers donating their creative talents to a worthy cause, but this—wow! A group of Pittsburgh design and marketing folks are teaming up to raise money for breast cancer research not by doing some pro-bono work, but by climbing really tall mountains. The group, working with the Pittsburgh Ad Fed, is part of the national Climb for Hope. Friend of HOW Ted Williams let us know about the project; he and fellow creatives Nick Cobler, Todd Lepley and Laura Willumsen are climbing Ecuador's second highest peak, Cotopaxi, in January; a fifth team member, Karen Kern, is climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in June. Dennis Brown of Giant Ideas in PGH is managing campaign.

Pittsburgh Post Gazette Article
By Jack Kelly, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
A crew of climbers training to scale mountains in support of cancer research ascend Stairwell A in Pitt's Cathedral of Learning. Again and again, they walk up from the first floor to the 36th floor, then go down the elevator, only to return their trek up the stairs. From the top are Laura Willumsen, Kelley Burkett, Karen Kern and Todd Lepley.
Five area residents are going to great heights to raise money for breast cancer research.
On Jan. 3, Laura Willumsen, Nick Cobler, Todd Lepley and Ted Williams plan to climb Ecuador's Mount Cotopaxi, at 19,348 feet the world's highest active volcano. This June Karen Kern plans to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.

Training on the trail.
Over the course of three days, Ted Williams, Nick Cobler and Todd Lepley of Team Pittsburgh took their training on the road and hit the trails of Black Moshannon State Park in The Alleghenies region of Pennsylvania. The team
tackled the Allegheny Front Trail West Loop - a 31.5 mile trek that windsits way around the western border of the Black Moshannon State Forest.
Covering roughly 10+ miles per day, the team pushed themselves to cover
